Our 5 X 8 trailers are heavy duty with a 3500 pound axle (2990 GVWR on the paperwork) and 15" 6 ply tires. The gate is 4 ft. long and made of 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" tube with thick wire mesh. The coupler is always 2". The straight tongue is 3" square tube and goes back to the 2nd crossmember. The fenders are very solid. We usually have treated wood and wire mesh floors in stock.
